ERYSIPELAS.
The diminution of cases under this head was very marked, for the return of
285 cases, equal to a case-rate of 0.81 per 1,000 of the population, was 138 below
the corrected average of the years 1891-9. Only in a single previous year, namely
1898, was the record so good, and then the number was 279, and the case-rate 0.80
which was practically the same proportion to the inhabitants as that now recorded.
In London the case-rate was 1.04 per 1,000, and in the Encircling Districts
1.05, so that the Borough rate contrasted favourably with these returns.
In preceding years the returns have been as follows:—
1891 | 343 cases | |
1892 | 550 „ | 1.70 „ „ |
1893 | 672 „ | 2.05 „ „ |
