Highbury.
There were 932 deaths, 842 males and 793 females registered, which are equal
to a death-rate of 13.43 per 1,000. This is a particularly low death-rate, and
indeed was actually the lowest in any of the sub-districts.
This Sub-district consists of Highbury Ward, Mildmay Ward and part of Canonbury Ward. From 1891 to the present date its annual death-rates have been remarkably low, as may be seen by the following figures:—

Barnsbury.
The returns show that 1,004 persons died, of whom 528 were males and 476
females. These deaths represented a mortality of 17.55 Per 1,000 inhabitants.
This is also a new sub-district, and consists of Thornhill and Barnsbury
Wards, and it is, therefore, impossible to give the statistics for preceding years.
All the causes of death are set out in Table D in the Appendix.
Islington, South-East.
This is too a new sub-district, comprising the whole of St. Mary's and
St. Peter's Wards and that part of Canonbury which is not included in the
Highbury sub-district.
The mortality returns showed that 1,412 persons died, 716 being males and
696 females, and that the death-rate was 18.11 per 1,000 on the estimated
population.
