Nos. 4, 8, 10, 16, 19, 20, 22, 23 were of a high
standard of purity. Nos. 2, 9, 12, 21 indicate a reasonable
standard of cleanliness. Nos. 13, 14, 15 were
definitely unsatisfactory, and having regard to the fact
that they were taken immediately after production,
showed signs of excessive manurial contamination.
In all cases where the laboratory reports are unsatisfactory
the Sanitary Inspectors visit the producer's
or retailer's premises and endeavour to obtain an
improvement. As a general rule the farmers are willing
to co-operate with the Department, although it is
difficult, of course, to ensure that every employee carries
out his legal obligations conscientiously.
