Report of Tuberculosis Officer—continued.
In most of the cases giving a positive result to the test, and
also in a few negative cases, an X-ray examination was made.
If any doubtful appearances were found, or if the child was in an
unsatisfactory state of health, recommendations were made for
treatment such as a period of convalescent treatment.

In this group in one of the positive reactors with abnormal X-ray appearances, the parents refused convalescent treatment which was recommended. Another showed X-ray evidence of infection but left the district.One of the positive reactors showed suspicious X-ray appearances, but the parents were unwilling to let the child go away. Another sent to hospital for observation was subsequently notified.Six T.B. + contacts, + reactors, showed X-ray evidence of old disease. One with suspicious X-ray appearances was sent for convalescent treatment.Two positive reactors showed evidence of active disease and were sent to sanatorium.
