bad been lost sight of and returned to the Register, being 23 as
compared with 55 in the previous year and to "Transfers to other
areas" and "Cases lost sight of" being 108 as compared with 79
in 1932. 73 deaths of Dispensary patients occurred, compared with
67 in the previous year.
Two patients had Ultra-violet ray treatment, one for lupus and
one for tuberculous disease of the larynx.
Twenty-five patients have had artificial pneumothorax treatment,
making in all 379 attendances as compared with 160 in 1932. The
treatment is arranged for at the Brompton, St. Thomas' and
Grove Park Hospitals.
The number of patients for whom dental treatment was provided
was 41 compared with 51 in 1932. Frequently when dental cases
are seen at the Dispensary they are febrile, and the treatment most
urgently needed is rest; so dental treatment may be postponed, and
in some cases is eventually carried out while the patient is in an
institution.
Dental Treatment.
The Borough Council provides the services of a Dental Surgeon,
who attends weekly. Treatment is free but, in respect of the provision
of dentures, persons able to contribute to the cost are assessed
by a sub-committee of the Public Health Committee in respect of
any balance remaining after contributions from insurance societies
or voluntary associations have been taken into account.
Where the patient is on out-relief the Public Assistance Committee
have been asked to meet the cost.
