Finsen Light treatment is arranged for at the London or St. Thomas
Hospital at a cost of 5s. per treatment.
Pneumothorax Refills. These are given at the Brompton Hospital
at a cost of 10s. 6d. per refill.
X-Ray Photographs. By arrangement with the Miller Hospital
these are made and reported upon at a cost of 10s. 6d. per case. A
slight increase in the Estimates has been made to cover an expected
increase in the number of cases submitted.
Extra Nourishment. Grants of milk and eggs were made to 49
persons. The extent to which this provision has been made does not
indicate the number of persons requiring assistance, as the total permissible
expenditure is a fixed sum equivalent to £2 per 1,000 persons
in the population.
Dental Treatment.
The Borough Council provides the services of a Dental Surgeon,
who attends weekly. Treatment is free but, in respect of the provision
of dentures, persons able to contribute towards the cost are assessed by
a sub-committee of the Public Health Committee in respect of any
balance remaining after contributions from insurance societies or
voluntary associations have been taken into account.
Where the patient is on out-relief the Guardians have been asked
to meet the cost.
