The work of the Diphtheria Immunisation Clinic has been undertaken
by Dr. Donnelly, who has very kindly furnished me with the
following Report:—

The number treated in 1929 were markedly fewer than in 1928,
when proportionately large numbers attended after the schools were
circularised at the commencement.
For the month of January, 1929 the figures were:
New Schick Tests, 5; Inoculation, 18; Re-tests, 22; Examined, 22.
In July, 1929, the numbers for the month were:
New Schick Tests, 1; Inoculation, 7 ; Re-tests, 4; Examined, 4.
The Medical Officer of Health re-circularised the schools and the
film on the Prevention of Diphtheria was exhibited locally. This was
followed by an increase in the number of attendances, and for the
month of December, 1929, the figures were :
New Schick Tests, 12; Inoculation, 20; Re-tests, 2 ; Examined, 2.
Schick tests are performed 9 to 12 months after the completion of
three inoculations, even in the case of children under 6 years. These
are not tested in the first instance as the proportion of reaction is so
high that inoculations are given without test. All re-tested who gave
a plus reaction were re-inoculated.
A record was kept of the Notifications of Diphtheria occurring in
persons who had been inoculated; three cases were notified in 1927.
In one of these, only one inoculation had been given, and that merely
a week previous to the occurrence of the disease. In the second case
