Offences other than Adulteration. No samples were found to
contain preservatives, and no case of improper labelling was brought
to notice during the year.
Public Health (Condensed Milk) Regulations, 1923 to 1927.
Three samples of condensed, full cream (sweetened) and two samples
of condensed, skimmed (sweetened) milk were taken for analysis and
found to be genuine and properly labelled.
Public Health (Dried Milk) Regulations, 1923 to 1927. Two
samples of dried milk, full cream, were taken informally and submitted
for analysis. Both proved to be genuine and to conform in all respects
with the provisions oJ the Dried Milk Regulations.
Misdescription or Misrepresentation. Under the Agricultural
Produce (Grading and Marking) Act, 1928, Regulations have been
formulated which permit of the application of Grade Designations to
such eggs as comply with certain conditions, amongst others, that they
are of a prescribed weight. It came to my knowledge that eggs, so
designated, but which failed to reach the prescribed standard, were
being sold in the Borough. The firm in question were summoned
under the Merchandise Marks Act, 1887, and a conviction recorded,
viz., a fine of £5 and £10 10s. costs.
