Where more than one disease is exhibited by any individual child,
the case is classified under the heading denoting the most important
cause.
In association with the Light Clinic, breathing and Swedish exercises
are taught and massage is given.
The Clinic is in charge of Miss Holland but steps have been taken
to permit of all the other Health Visitors attending an intensive Course
in Light Therapy with a view to their attending certain sessions at the
Clinic.
(d) Dental Clinic. The Clinic deals with such expectant and
nursing mothers, and children as are referred from the Welfare Centres.
As it was impossible to deal with all cases, an increase was made in
the Estimates to provide for an extension of this service.

The Dental Surgeon, Mr. J. Eric Magraw, has furnished me with the following details of the work in 1929:—

In the case of the fillings for mothers, 22 were amalgam and 6
plastic.
3. The Maternity Home.
The record of the Municipal Maternity Home shows that the work
carried out during 1929 is on the same high level as in previous years.
The following are the details supplied to me by Dr. Hill concerning the
cases admitted during 1929:—
Cases in Home on 1st January, 1929, 8.
Cases admitted, 263.
Average stay, Two weeks.
Cases delivered by midwives, 251.

Cases in which medical advice sought, 88.
Cases notified as puerperal sepsis, Nil.
Temperature rose above 100.4 for 24 hours, Nil.
