Public Health Prevention of Infectious and Epidemic Diseases.
The Port Sanitary Regulations, 1933.

SMOKE ABATEMENT.
During the year we received several complaints from the Bankside
District concerning a large quantity of grit which was being deposited,
particularly when the wind was in a certain direction.
This nuisance caused a considerable amount of time being involved
in investigation, and the Sanitary Inspector on this District spent many
hours in carrying out experiments in order to trace the offending
chimneys.
Observation is still being kept.
BLACK SMOKE.
During the year 1933 seven complaints were received at the Public
Health Office from persons other than the Council's Inspectors.
