INFECTIOUS DISEASES.
All homes are visited by a Sanitary Inspector and an Enquiry
Officer, who investigates the possible sources of infection, arranges for
admission to Hospital, and deals with schools and contacts. He also
arranges for the rooms to be closed and disinfected and for the admission
of contacts to the Reception House if necessary.
SMALL POX.
There were 106 cases notified during 1930 as against 153 in 1929.
Other cases were imported from other districts where the disease
has been very prevalent.
The disease has continued a mild type and no deaths have occurred.
During the year I visited 135 cases at the request of various doctors,
17 of these visits being to Guy's Hospital. A variety of skin complaints
and rashes were among the number, but a fair proportion were actually
smallpox.
20 cases were removed to Hospital from the Reception House.
These cases were contacts of other cases occurring in the district.
127 males and 115 females, who were contacts from houses where
smallpox had occurred were bathed and their clothes disinfected before
a certificate to return to work was granted.
SCARLET FEVER.
This disease was more prevalent than in the year previous; it was
very mild in type. Four deaths occurred during the year.
