INFLUENZA.
Once more there was a considerable number of deaths from influenza,
75 in all, which is 2 more than the corrected average of the preceding ten
years ; the return is also only 2 above that for 1906, and 8 above that for 1905.
It was most fatal in the early part of the year, when, during the first quarter,
it caused 48 deaths, which was 10 more than the average of the preceding
decade for that period of the year. In the second quarter the deaths fell to
12, or 2 less than the similar decennial average; and in the third quarter to
4, which was exactly equal to the decennial average, but the number rose
again to 11 in the fourth quarter, although the deaths were still below the
decennial average.

These deaths were complicated in 26 instances with Pneumonia, in 10 with
Bronchitis, and in 18 with some form of heart disease.
