In the Homeworkers' premises 58 statutory defects were found, consisting generally of
dirty walls and ceilings ; of these, 49 have been remedied.
52 calls were made re infectious disease on the above premises.
In all these disinfection was duly carried out under the supervision of the District
Inspector, but in four cases it was found necessary to acquaint the employers, through you, and
stop the work fro. tem.
In each instance the patient was at once removed to hospital and disinfection completed.
In accordance with Sec. 107 (Factory and Workshop Act, 1891), 1,341 names and
addresses of Outworkers and Homeworkers were sent to their respective districts.
There is an increasing difficulty in obtaining prompt returns from employers in the
Borough, and during the year under report 233 letters of reminder have had to be forwarded
to them.
