Order, dated 26th February, 1907, requiring the notification ot cases of
Cerebro-Spinal Fever for a period of six months, and that such an Order had
been approved by the Local Government Board.
At the expiry of this period the Order was extended for a further period
of eighteen months.
Under the provisions of these Orders, 11 cases, of which 10 were genuine,
were notified during the last nine months of the year, and of these 6 died.

THE VOLUNTARY NOTIFICATION OF PHTHISIS.
The voluntary notification of Phthisis, which has been practised in
Islington since January 1st, 1905, has resulted in the following cases having
been notified to the Medical Officer of Health :—In 1905, 81; 1906, 64; 1907,
68. These, however, can represent only a small proportion of the cases that
must have occurred.
The Relieving Officers have given intimation of cases coming under their
notice, so that in addition to the 68 cases in 1907 that were notified by
Medical Practitioners, information respecting 69 was also obtained. The
figures relative to the notification of this disease for the last three years stand
