Mortality.
The number of deaths of infants under one year of age who
died during the year was 134, and is represented by a ratio of
117.13 deaths to 1,000 registered births, showing a satisfactory
decrease of 6.7 from last year. It will be seen on reference to
Table 5 that the infantile mortality rate for this year is 12.7 below
the rate for the previous 10 years.
Among the institutions in the District which have an effect
on this mortality is the South Wimbledon Day Nurserv in Haydons
Road, which continues and extends its beneficial operations.
Isolation
Hospital'
During the year 155 patients were removed to the Hospital,
102 being notified as suffering from scarlet fever, 48 diphtheria,
and 5 from typhoid fever. There were 7 deaths in the hospital,
6 being from diphtheria and 1 from typhoid fever.
The percentage of admissions to notifications in the three
classes of disease were as follows:—Scarlet fever, 79 per cent. ;
diphtheria, Oo per cent. ; and typhoid fever, 31 per cent. If the 5
typhoid fever patients who were treated in the Cottage Hospital
and Atkinson Morley's Convalescent Hospital are considered, the
percentage of admissions to cases would be 62 in the disease.

The following is a return of the Medical Officer for the Isolation Hospital, Dr. Clapham showing particulars of the patients treated in the Hospital during the year.
