Drainage
The drains of 186 houses and premises have been entirely
re-constructed, and laid to stand the water test, with manholes,
etc., for inspection and cleansing purposes.
The following blocks of houses have been re-drained, the
main drain in some cases being put in by the District Council
at their own costs:—

12, 13, 14, East Road.
72, 74, 76, 78, 80, 82, 84, Hubert Road.
2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, Cross Road.
223, 225, 227, 229, Haydon's Road.
59, 61, 63, 67, Deburgh Road.
62, 64, 66, 68, South Road.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Cowper Road.
1, 2, 3, Miller's Mead.
192, 194, 196, 198, 200, 202, 204, 206, 208, Haydon's Road.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Thurstan Road.
and several pairs of houses.
The large block of 48 tenements, known as Beehive
Buildings, has been inspected, and put in thoroughly good condition.

Notices to re-drain these premises were served as long ago
as January, 1896; delays from time to time having occurred
owing to change of ownership, and legal and other quibbles.
