Besides these, several pairs of houses have been redrained,
and many single ones.
There are several groups of houses which require redraining,
and which are scheduled by myself to be dealt with
in the future.
It is a false economy to spare expense where lives may
be endangered.
It should be borne in mind that sanitary work is a
preventative work, and not a curative one, and it would be a
sad reflection if deaths occur through any delay in carrying
out the work.
The block of 16 houses in Elmore Terrace, which I have
already referred to, are about to be redrained. The Council
has put in the new main drain.
Nuisances. Several complaints were made (some anonymously) with
reference to nuisances alleged to exist on other people's
premises; these were all attended to, but in some cases the
complaints were of a very frivolous nature.
The nuisances dealt with are summarized in Table 1.
It is with much pleasure that I again testify to the great
assistance I have received from Mr. Mayne in this as in
former years.
I have the honour to be,
Your obedient Servant,
E. POCKLINGTON, M.O.H.
