Anthrax.—No cases were notified during the year.
Ophthalmia Neonatorum.—Four case's occurred during
the year, one of which was treated at the Isolation Hospital.
The other three were visited by the Health Visitors. They
were all under treatment by medical practitioners in the district
and the vision was unimpaired.
Encephalitis Lethargica. — Three cases were notified
during the year, equal to an attack rate of .04 per thousand of
the population.
Malaria.—Twenty-five notifications were received during
the year, which is equal to an attack rate of .4 per thousand
of the population. Infection in all these cases was contracted
abroad.
Dysentery.—Two notifications were received during the
year, which is equal to an attack late of .03 per thousand of
the population. In both instances infection was contracted
abroad.
Meningitis. — One notification was received during the
year, which is equal to an attack rate of .01 per thousand of
the population.
Cancer.—During the year 80 deaths have been registered
as due to the different forms of malignant disease or Cancer
(29 males, 51 females).
The death-rate for the year was 1.3, as against 1.05 last
year, and 1.2 in 1917, the average for the past five years being
1.1.
