The average attack and death-rates for the last five quinquennial periods were as follows: —

One hundred and five, or 88'2 per cent, of the patients were
treated at the Isolation Hspital.
Seventy per cent. of the cases notified were children of
school age, five to fifteen years, and of these 82 attended the
following schools: —

Diphtheria.—The total number of cases notified during
the year was 86 from 73 houses, as against 111 and 82 for
1918 and 1917 respectively. The attack rate was 1.3 per
thousand of the population.
There were eight deaths, corresponding to a death-rate
of T3 per thousand of the population.
In one house there were 6 cases, in one house 4 cases, in
one house 3 cases, in four houses 2 cases, and in the remainder
1 each.
