Changes in Staff.—On 1st April, 1909, the Council granted
a retiring allowance to Mr. William Evans, Senior Inspector of
Nuisances, after 30 years' faithful service, and the Avhole staff deeply
regretted his death which occurred on 24th July.
To fill the vacancy caused by Mr. Evans' retirement the Council
appointed Mr. Geo. H. Wilson, an Inspector of Nuisances. Mr.
Wilson had previously acted for nine years as Inspector under the
Shop Hours Act, and to fill the vacancy thus caused Mr. Ed. G.
Simmons was appointed.
In September, Miss M. G. Bhose, Lady Inspector of Nuisances,
resigned her office, and Miss Mary Monkhouse was appointed in her
place.
