VITAL STATISTICS.
Area.—The area of the County Borough of West Ham is
4,706 acres. Latitude 51° 30' — 51° 33' N. Longitude 0° 1' W.-
0° 3' E.
Population.—The Census taken on 1st April, 1901, showed
the population of the Borough to be 267,358, the number of inhabited
houses to be 41,433, giving 6.4 persons per house. This number
varies in the different wards, as will be seen in a later table. The
estimated population for the middle of the year 1904 was 288,424.
