These houses were at once visited and notice served upon the
responsible person, to reinstate the supply within 48 hours.
Intimation is seldom given by the S.E.W.W. Co., when
they cut off the supply, although I have frequently requested
them to give me this information. I see no reason why they
could not send notice in the same way as the Metropolitan
Water Board.
In the Ilford Improvement Act, 1898, there is a provision
as to houses without a water supply, and the Owner is liable to
a penality of £5 for allowing a dwelling house to be occupied
without a proper and sufficient supply.
