VITAL STATISTICS.
Population.
The estimated population at the middle of 1915 was
47,812. The estimate given by the Registrar-General is
44,185.
Births.
The number of births belonging to Finchley, for the year
1915. is 912; of these 892 were registered in the district, and
20 elsewhere.
The birth-rate is 19.07 per 1,000 of the population, as
compared with 20.99 in 1914; or based on the RegistrarGeneral's
figure is 20.64.

Illegitimate Births.
32 illegitimate births were registered, i.e., 3.5 per cent.
of the total births, as compared with 3.01 in 1914.
Deaths.
422 deaths were registered within the district; 22 were of
persons temporarily residing here, and 97 deaths occurred
outside the district among persons who usually reside in the
district. This nett total is 497, and equals a nett death-rate
of 10.39 per 1,000 of the population, as compared with 9.24
in 1914; or based on the Registrar-General's figure is 11.24.
The corrected death-rate is 10.56. The death-rate for
England and Wales is 15.1.
