mentally deficient centre. The results of the year's examinations

under the Mental Deficiency Act of 1913 are as follows :—

Dental Disease.
The report of the Dentist is appended. The demand for
dental treatment has considerably increased, and the time has
now arrived when the Committee should take into consideration
the appointment of a full-time Dentist. Parents are now
beginning to realise the importance of having their children's
teeth attended to, and we now have a large number waiting for
treatment.
Cleanliness.
All the school children have been examined by the School
Nurses and the results are shown in Table VII. Out of a total
of 37,742 examinations 2,403 were discovered with a few
nits in their hair, 504 with many nits and presence of
vermin and 64 with body and clothing verminous. The number
of Statutory Notices served during the year was 40.
