Cisterns as a source of supply are now practically a
thing of the past in the district, although until comparatively
recent years no other source was available.
Disinfections.
The disinfection of rooms, bedding, clothing, etc.,
are carried out under the order of the Medical Officer
of Health, and are referred to in the County Tables.
Factory and Workshop Act, 1901.
A large number of inspections and enquiries have
been made during the year in addition to the details
given in my special report, submitted in the month of
December. A perusal of this table reveals the actual
number of Factories, Workshops and Workplaces in
the district, compiled after careful inspection for a
report required by statutory power to be submitted to
the Medical Officer of Health. Every facility for
inspection has been given me by the various occupiers
who readily comply, as far as possible, with the requirements
of the Act, or by the direct request of the Home
Office. Prompt attention has been given to Outworkers,
and new workshops were duly notified to the Home
Office Inspector.
