All these houses are incapable of being made fit at a reasonable cost and in each
case the owner has had full opportunity to submit to the Council any proposals for
their retention and to object to the action taken by the Council.
The Housing Department is kept informed of adverse housing conditions coming to
the notice of the Health Department and assistance is giver in the assessment of
applications for re-housing where priority on medical grounds is claimed.
During the year the Council approved expenditure as under:-
(a) advances of £421,295 under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts in relation
to 313 houses.
(b) improvement grants of £2,480 under section 20 of the Housing Act, 1949, in
relation to 12 houses.
(c) repairs loans of £760 under section 4 of the Housing Act, 1949, in relation to
3 houses.
(d) Pepair costs of £1,131 under section 9 of the Housing Act, 1936, for work in
default in relation to 7 houses.
