(2) Number of new cases of overcrowding reported during the
year: 6
(3) (a) Number of cases of overcrowding relieved during the
year: 9
(b) Number of persons concerned in such cases: 61
(4) Particulars of any case in which dwelling-houses have again
become over-crowded after the Local Authority have taken
steps for the abatement of overcrowding: Nil
5. OTHER MATTERS:
(1) Number of dwelling-houses demolished voluntarily: 2
Section 26 of the Housing Repairs and Rents Act 1954. permits a tenant, on
whom a 'repairs increase' notice has been served, to apply to the Council for a
certificate that either or both of the conditions justifying an increase of rent (in
good repair and reasonably suitable for occupation) are not fulfilled and the Council,
if satisfied that the house fails to fulfil either or both conditions, must certify
accordingly and while such a certificate is in force 'no sum shall be recoverable by
way of repairs increase'. During the year, 8 such certificates were issued
On the application of the landlord, the Council must revoke the certificate, if
the works necessary to comply with both the conditions justifying an increasein rent
have been carried out to their satisfaction. During the year, 14 such certificates
were revoked.

At the end of the year, the following 61 houses, subject to Demolition or Closin Orders or to undertakings not to re-lpt till rendered fit, were still occupied:•
