Canal Boats
Acts 1877
and 1884.
Pursuant to the Third Section of the Canal Boats Acts, 1884, the Metropolitan
Borough of Stepney, being the Registration Authority under the above
Acts, has to report as follows with regard to the execution of such Acts and of
the Regulations made thereunder, and as to the steps taken by them as such
authority during the year 1932 to giye effect to the provisions of the said Acts
and Regulations, viz.: —
(1) Canal Boats coming within the district are inspected by a Sanitary
Inspector, who receives a sum of £10 per annum for the performance of this
duty. His inspection is irrespective of the examination of Boats made by the
Examining Officer prior to their registration.
(2) The number of boats inspected in 1932 was 35.
Only three children were found on the boats.
There were no contraventions of the Acts and Regulations.
There is only one boat on the register.
