Annual Report on the Health of the Parish of St. Martin-in-theFields,for
the Tear 1877.
To the Vestry of St. Martin-in-the-Fields.
Gentlemen,
I have the honour of submitting to you ray
Eighth Annual Report on the health and sanitary
condition of the Parish of St. Martin-in-the-Fields.
This year was marked by the continuation of the
Smallpox epidemic, which commenced in the latter part
of 1876. In this parish there were several cases of
this disease, many of which were sent to the Metropolitan
Asylum Smallpox Hospitals, others passed
throngh the disorder at their own homes, and not one
of the latter died, whereas several of the former proved
fatal.

malady, as recorded in my report for the year 1876,
