PITCHING.
The portion of Oxford Circus under the jurisdiction of your
Vestry, and the northern end of Hopkin Street and Ingestre
Place, have been relaid with new granite pitching. Ormond
Yard and Old Burlington Mews have also been repaved with
the best of the old stones removed from those streets which
were paved with wood and asphalte.
FOOTWAYS.
The following work was carried out on the footways in
streets which have been repaved:- York stone relaid, 103,275
square feet, granite kerb reset, 12,910 feet run. These
dimensions include 28,476 feet of new York stone, and 2,359
feet of new kerb. The footway, paving, and kerbing of
Duke Street and Gt. Marlborough Street were also taken up
and relaid, in addition to the footway paving of those streets
in which the carriageways were repaved with a quiet material..
OLD MATERIALS.
The quantities of old materials sold were:—Wood, 51 cart
loads; York stone, 1,038 square feet; pitching, 289 squareyards.
BEAK STREET.
In February last the western entrance to Beak Street from
Regent Street was widened from 8ft. 5in. to 14ft., at the
narrowest part. This now gives sufficient room for two
vehicles to pass, and so prevents the blockages which were
previously constantly occurring.
