The following is a list of the mortality of different
years for the last 15 years.

The excess of the death rate in 1870 over the
death rate of 1869 is 61. It will be seen that the
excess of deaths between the two years is chiefly in
that of persons between 40 and 60 years of age.
The deaths in the Workhouse during the last
five years has been as follows:

1870 182
The deaths of 41 persons from Saint Anne's in
1869, and of 38 in 1870 will account for the
increase of mortality during those years.
Zymotic Diseases.
The cases of what are called Zymotic Diseases
are always of interest to the medical officer of health,
as it is amongst this group of diseases he has the
T able of D eaths in D istricts and Q uarters in 1869.
