A length of 1316 feet of 18 inch pipe Sewer has been laid in Raymouth Road, at
a total cost of £657 8s. 9d. including the necessary gullies, side entrances, &c., the
cost will be borne by the Owners of property in the Road, payment of which the
Vestry agreed to take by instalments as follows, viz:—One half of such cost
before the works were commenced, one fourth in six months and the remaining one
fourth in twelve months from the commencement of the work.
The Agent for the ground landlord of the property in Raymouth Road, appealed
to the Metropolitan Board of Works against the Vestry's estimate of the amount of
the cost of the Sewer in the said Road, upon the hearing of which the Board dismissed
the appeal, an alteration only being made in the percentage charge of the Vestry by
reducing the same from 7½ to 4 per cent. whereby a reduction of £21 15s. 4d., was
made upon the total estimate of £668 10s. 4d.
A 12 inch pipe Sewer 638 feet in length has been laid in Rotherhithe Street, from
Church Passage eastward to Swan Lane and two new gullies provided at a cost of
£113 5s. 6d.
A further length of 200 feet of 12 inch pipe Sewer has also been laid from Swan
Lane to Clarence Street, at a cost of £34 1s. 6d.
The old Sewer in Lucas Street not being low enough to drain the basements of the
houses there a length of 200 feet of 15 inch pipe Sewer has been substituted at a cost
of £58 2s. 9d. towards which a contribution of £10 has been received from the
Owner of No. 5, Lucas Street.
