*For statistical purposes the Registrar-General estimates the population to
the middle of the year on the basis of the rate of increase ruling between the two
preceding Census periods. The estimate of population may be checked by the
known number of inhabited bouses, and by the average number of inmates per
house, as ascertained at the preceding Census.
**The deaths of non-parishioners in public institutions within the parish
(St. Mary's Hospital, Lock Hospital,and Children's Hospital, Paddington Green),
are deducted; but those of parishioners in extra-parochial hospitals and outlying
institutions are included.
