During the 13 weeks ending October 2nd, being the third
quarter of the registration year 1880, 717 births and 432
deaths were registered in Paddington. The 717 births, comprising
347 male and 370 female children, show an annual
birth rate of 24.8 per 1,000 of the estimated population of the
parish. Deducting the deaths of 47 non-parishioners in the
two hospitals in the parish, from the total deaths 432, the
corrected number of deaths is seen to be 385—177 males and
