In addition to the above 50 feet of new pipe sewer has been constructed
in Arthur Street, on the Cotton Estate at Limehouse, at Mr.
Cotton's expense.
In connection with the new and old sewers there have been constructed.
1 side entrance.
5 ventilators.
5 man-holes.
32 flushing boxes.
66 gullies
8 gully pans.
11 gullies have been repaired and trapped.
1340 feet of pipe drains have been constructed for gullies.
359 feet of brick sewers have been cleansed by the contractors of
the Board.
16,260 feet of brick sewers have been flushed and cleansed, and
13,637 feet of small briek and pipe sewers have been flushed by workmen
engaged by the Board. The water when required was supplied
by the East London Water Works Company.
The construction of the pipe sewers in Limehouse Fields, has completed
the drainage of that locality, the total cost has not exceeded the
sum borrowed for the purpose, viz. £3,000.
In consequence of the repeated complaints of the inhabitants of
Fore Street, Limehouse, near the outlet of the Nightengale Lane
sewer, the covered outlet has been extended a further distance of 36 feet
towards low water mark.
HOUSE DRAINAGE.
Two hundred and eighty-three applications have been received for
drainage, and notices for the erection of seventy-nine new buildings.
Five hundred and ninety-five houses have been drained, and the
following works executed in connection therewith, viz.
565 feet 12-inch pipe drains laid.
