The following table shows the amount of traffic passing over
Lewisham Bridge. The traffic was taken on three different days,
viz.: the 12th of April, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.; 19th of
April, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.; and the 20th of April, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

I had the traffic taken for the purpose of evidence (if required) for the Board's opposition to the Light Railway scheme of the London County Council:.

Another argument in favour of the substitution of a paved
road for the present MacAdam road in the High.street, is the
impossibility of properly keeping up the MacAdam road to the
level of the paved surface of the tramway. This portion of the
oad is constantly under repair, and no sooner done than it requires
doing again. Speaking generally, the roads are in good
condition and improving.
ROAD WATERING.
Men employed by, and horses belonging to, the Board,
carried out this work, assisted by men and horses supplied under
contract by Mr. Win. Joy, of Rushey.green. His charges were
8s. (Jd. per horse, harness and man per day at Blackheath, and
8s. per horse, harness and man per day in Catford, Lewisham
and Brockley. The water vans and carts are provided by the
Board.

The length of the roads watered in Lewisham, Blackheath, &c., is as follows:—
