was £55,000, being equal to a rate of 1s. 10 1/4d. in the pound
on the rateable value then in force. This year the Board
raised £58,332, which sum, owing to the increase in the
rateable value, was equivalent to a rate of rather less than
1s. 10 1/4d. in the pound.
The contributions received on behalf of the Parish of
Lewisham from the London County Council, pursuant to
the London (Equalisation of Rates) Act, 1894, amounted to
£4,946 0s. l1d.
The sum raised by Precept in the Hamlet of Penge
was £12,000, or £1,000 less than that raised in the previous
year. This is equivalent to a rate of rather over
1s. 6½d in the pound on the rateable value of the Hamlet.
The sum received from the London County Council
in respect of the Equalisation of Rates Act, 1894, for
Penge, was £1,102 17s. 8d.
SCHOOL BOARD PRECEPT.
The sum raised under the Precept of the School Board
for London, and paid over to that Board was £40,558 19s.
l1d., or £4,221 8s. 1d. in excess of that of the preceding
year.
LOANS.
The total indebtedness of the Board on the Loan account
at the 25th March, 1900, was £88,189 19s. 3d.
