GENERAL SUBJECTS.
In this Report some of the most important matters that
have been brought under the consideration of the Board are
summarised briefly. There are, however, a large number of
matters of detail, many of which have involved much time
and consideration, but these in themselves are not of sufficient
importance for reproduction here.
The Board, during the year, received and dealt with
numerous letters from the Board of Trade, the Local Government
Board, the London County Council, and from Metropolitan
Vestries and District Boards and other Boards,
relating to matters of business and general interest to the
Metropolis.
The Board also received and dealt with a large number
of letters from residents relating to numerous and varied
subjects affecting the District, and the lighting, cleansing,
and improvement of the same, but not of sufficient importance
for reproduction in this report.
MEETINGS OF THE BOARD AND COMMITTEES.
There were in all 143 Meetings held during the year,
viz., 20 Ordinary Meetings of the Board; 7 Meetings of
the Special Committee; 18 Meetings of the Works and
General Purposes Committee; 9 Ordinary Monthly Meetings
of the Finance Committee; and 20 Fortnightly Meetings
