In Lewisham there were 27 lamps removed, and in the
Hamlet of Penge 6. One of Sugg's "Whitehall" lamps was
erected at the Fountain at Sydenham.
DUSTING.
The Dust and Ashes were collected in Lewisham Parish by
horses and carts belonging to the Board, and men in the employ
of the Board; the Dust being disposed of by contract to Mr.
William Jerrard, Lewisham, Mr. Lane, Rushey Green, and Mr.
Batchelor, Perry Rise. The Parish was divided into four districts,
Mr. Batchelor taking two of them.
The Hamlet of Penge was divided into two divisions, Mr.
Baker taking one portion of the dust, and The Beckenham and
Penge Brickworks Company the other.
The Dust collected in Lewisham amounted to 5781½ Loads,
and in the Hamlet of Penge 3448 Loads. The total sum the
