The total cost of this was £881 19s. 5d., say 1s. 3d. per
superficial yard.
PENGE.
There were 4209 superficial yards of Tar pavement laid
in Penge by the Board's men under my superintendence, and
in the following Roads and Streets:—Dulwieh Road, hawthorn
Grove, Jasmine Grove, Tudor Road, and Palace Road.
The total cost of the same was £266 13s. 6d., say 1s. 4d. per
superficial yard.
IMPROVEMENTS.
Lewisham.—The Dartmouth Road, Forest Hill, being
very narrow and dangerous for traffic, the Board determined
to widen the Road for a considerable portion of its length to
a width of 40 feet. Plans were prepared by me, and
negociations were made with the owners for that purpose,
and the greater portion of the work has been done. I also
drew plans, &c., for the widening of a portion of Brockley
Lane to a width of 50 feet, and the proceedings for the
possesion of the land are progressing favorably. The further
portion of the Ladywell Road improvements was delayed
untila compulsary purchase of the cottages, &c., had been
effected, when the road in front of them was widened from
