FOOD.
Milk.—At the end of 1919 there were 119 dairies
and milkshops on the register, and during 1920 15
were removed and 19 added. 643 samples of milk
were purchased for analysis, of which 51, or 8 per
cent., were certified to be below the standard adopted
by the Board of Agriculture, against 14.3, 13 and
108 per cent. in the three preceding years. In 8
of the 13 cases in which proceedings were taken by
the Council the summonses were dismissed on the
ground that the vendor had purchased the milk under
a warranty that it was of genuine quality, and had sold
it in the same condition as they received it.
Milk and Cream Regulations 1912 & 1917.—The
following particulars of proceedings taken in 1920,
under the above regulations made in pursuance of
the Public Health (Regulation of Food) Act, 1907, are
given in the form suggested by the Local Government
Board in their circular letter of October 27th, 1913
