The subject of the cleansing and ventilation of the sewers has
received a good deal of attention from the Vestry during the year,
and it will be seen that no less a sum than £422 6s. 3d. was spent
for water alone for flushing the sewers during the period.
Acting on the instructions of the Vestry , on the 8th October, 1892,
I prepared a report on the sewers in the district, a copy of which is
appended.
The report included a table giving the length, depth, size, number
of ventilators, distance apart of same, and other particulars, in reference
to the sewer in every street in the district. As this is of course very
lengthy and can always be referred to at my office, I have not
repeated it in this report.
The Vestry of the Parish of Fulham.
Town Hall, Fulham,
October 8th, 1892.
To the Chairman and Members of the Vestry of Fulham.
Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen,
REPORT ON THE SEWERS IN THIS DISTRICT.
Having been instructed by a resolution of the Vestry, passed on
the 3rd of August, 1892, to report on the sewers in the Parish.
I beg to point out that, although I propose to condense the report
as much as possible, it will necessarily be somewhat lengthy. Many
details have also been unavoidably omitted, which can be easily
supplied to any committee dealing with the report.
I propose first to give some particulars relating to the sewers of
Fulham generally, then to supply a detailed descriptive list of all the
sewers in the Parish, adding recommendations where desirable.
Much of the information, and many of the suggestions in this
report have already appeared in former Reports to the Vestry, but as
all of these suggestions have not been fully carried out, they are
repeated here.
