site which showed that, subject to the confirmation of the Clearance
Order by the Minister, the County Council would be able to provide
on this site accommodation in excess of that required for the rehousing
of the persons at present residing in the four areas in the
Borough to be cleared by the County Council.

As regards the remaining areas in the Borough with which the Borough Council has agreed to deal as clearance areas, the following have been represented as unhealthy areas and Clearance Orders have been made by the Borough Council:—

Public enquiries have now been held by the Ministry of Health
Inspectors as regards all these areas and the Clearance Orders have
received the confirmation of the Minister.
Attention is now being given to a number of groups of houses,
some of which will be dealt with as clearance areas.
As regards the re-housing of the persons to be displaced under
the Clearance Orders already made and confirmed, the Borough
Council has erected 198 flats upon a site secured by the compulsory
acquisition of Nos. 177 to 187b, Lower Clapton Road, and has
also approved plans for the erection of 160 flats upon the site of the
Banister Street Clearance Areas Nos. 1 and 2 and certain land
