III. NOTIFIABLE DISEASES DURING THE YEAR.
During 1928 there were 1,915 cases of acute infectious disease
compulsorily notified in the Borough, as set out in Table II. This
total shows a decrease of 243 upon those notified during 1927. The
attack-rate in respect of the acute notifiable infectious diseases for
the year is 8.8 per 1,000 inhabitants.
In addition there were 293 notifications received of pulmonary
tuberculosis and 80 notifications of other forms of tuberculosis.
The deaths from the chief zvmotic diseases numbered 118. This
is equivalent a a zymotic death-rate of 0.54 per 1,000 living in the
Borough, as compared with a zymotic death-rate of 0.46 during the
previous year.
