CLEANLINESS.
During 1949 the Corporation Cleansing Station situated near the
Grange Mansion provided facilities for cleansing infested persons.
A table is appended showing the number of cases treated during the
year. Infestation by head or body lice remains at a very low level, and
the number of cases of scabies treated shows a gratifying decrease.

The general standard of cleanliness throughout the Borough remains at a reasonably high level, special attention being paid to this matter by the Health Visitors and Sanitary Inspectors during their routine visits and in their contact with the public at the Town Hall.
