INFANTILE MORTALITY.
The infantile mortality rate for 1947 was 27.37 per 1,000 live births.
This is a decrease from the figure of 30.72 per 1,000 live births for 1946,
and compares favourably with the figure of 41 for England and Wales.
Of the total of 548 live births, 15 deaths of infants under one year of
age (9 males and 6 females, two of the males being illegitimate) were
registered.

The Corporation's arrangements for the examination of swabs, sputum, and other pathological material continue as heretofore.

During 1947 Mr. H. Amphlett Williams, Public Analyst, 1 Southwark
Street, S.E.I, continued the arrangement made in 1946 for the examination
of milk, water and ice-cream.
Pathological specimens are sent to the Pathological Laboratories
at the St. Helier County and Croydon General Hospitals.
