1940 was 9, of which 6 were males and 3 were females. This gives a
stillbirth rate of 25.50 per 1,000 total births and 0.33 per 1,000 total
population.
Deaths. The Registrar-General gives the number of deaths registered
as 346, of which 159 were males and 187 were females.
Taking the estimated population figure of 27,410, the crude death
rate for 1940 is 12.62 per thousand, compared with 9.38 for 1939. The
corresponding figures for England and Wales for 1940 and 1939 are
14.3 and 12.1 respectively.
The corrected death rate, i.e., the rate which would be arrived at
if the age and sex constitution of the population of Beddington and
Wallington was in the same proportion as the country as a whole,
shows no change as the Registrar-General's comparability factor for
the adjustment of the death rate of Beddington and Wallington is
1.00.
