It appears, on the perusal of the above Table, that the rate of mortality of children under 5
years of age, in relation to the total deaths, varies in the several sub-districts. Thus, in the
Artillery sub-district it is 50.0 per cent.; in the Spitalfields it is 62.9 per cent ; in the Whitechapel
North it is 56.4 per cent.; in the Aldgate, 54.0 per cent ; while in the entire District it is
40.8 per cent.
