seen on referring to the tables in the appendix. A butcher was fined 20s. and costs,
for using an unlicensed slaughter-house. The penalty of 20s. and costs, was inflicted
upon a person exposing for sale meat unfit for human food, and the meat was ordered
to be destroyed.
I have visited some schools and public buildings in the district, for the purpose
of considering the state and efficiency of the ventilation, and in those cases where
I thought it defective, I made such suggestions as the case seemed to require. Here,
I may remark, that the ventilation of the Board-room is very defective, and it requires
your immediate attention; for I feel convinced that some of those gentlemen who are
regular in their attendance, will sooner or later feel the injurious effects of breathing
the poisonous air which is generated in this room when many members are present,
unless effective means are taken to get rid of the products of respiration and the
combustion of gas.
