BIRTHS
During the year 560 live births were registered, being 66 more
than last year's total. The rate per thousand population was 12.9
comparing with an average for England and Wales of 17.1• Of the total
number 15 or 2.7 per cent were illegitimate.
DEATHS
During the year 505 deaths were registered, an increase of 25
compared with those recorded in 1959, "the rate per thousand being 11 .4
